Our yikes to yum DIY kitchen

Remember this post way back when?

Well, it's my tribute to our first home together in Tempe. It started as Craig's bachelor pad (*shutter*) complete with NFL blankets over the windows.

We re-did basically every room, but we actually gutted the kitchen down to the studs, so I am most proud of this job.

It was soooo much work and we never really got to reap the benefits of it (dang you Denver!) So I thought I would share it again for DIY day!

This kitchen was the nastiest thing I have ever seen. I know, I am spoiled...but seriously, the things we found. EEEKKK! It was our own little fluorescent lit wallpapered cave.

Do you see those appliances? I don't know if they worked, I was too scared to use them. And that ceiling? It was so low! Not to mention the monstrosity of colors.

We tried to streamline the kitchen so it felt less like a cave.

We lifted the ceiling, drywalled, painted, changed the tile, designed our own cabinets, bought all new appliances, put in granite...and then fell down dead.

Actually, we added a little bar stool area to the side. Then fell down dead.

The house we are in now requires very little 'projects' to live in peace. That was our only mission while wading through the foreclosure market. Now I can use my powers for making ghosts and spiders. HOLLA!

The DIY Show Off
I'm a little bit challenged, so I just grabbed her regular button. Make sure to look at the surprise party posted here on October 13th!
And of course,

DIY Day @ ASPTL

Whoa! What a transformation! I'm glad you dug it out to revisit! You did an amazing job! The before pictures were scary. You crack me up with falling down dead. It's always like that after a tough project, isn't it? Thankfully it doesn't happen for real and we get to enjoy the rewards!

Thanks for linking to the Show & Tell! :)
