Revamp the revamped

That's what I do. It is a slight sickness. I revamp something, then I stare at it for a week and revamp it again. You've seen this on my blog 5,000 times. Sure, it is frustrating and many times cost ineffective, but if you leave me alone long enough, it happens!

Yesterday was one of those days. Craig went to work bright and early and my mind came up with 1 million things I could do instead of cleaning. I rushed around between conference breaks do pick up a few things and got to work.

First order of business, my beloved glue gun hand scarring wreath from tHis post.

It was cute at first, then I began to despise its simplicity and frumpiness against all the other fall decor. Something was missing. So I approached my foe once again (the glue gun) and added some more colorful berries to it. I spray painted the black hook I had it on, and changed out the ribbon for something more festive.

I also addressed the big fat empty space at the bottom with some notions. Word of advice, be careful glue gunning plastic apples. They explode. Just a tip.

Next item up was the centerpiece you may recall from tHiS post. I did a mini revamp by suggestion of Alyssa (thx!!) and added some stuff to the bottom of the jars. But as you can see, the centerpiece is a little teensy compared to the length of the table.

It has been bothering me from the beginning. I remembered an awesome centerpiece done HeRe by the lovely Thrifty Decor Chick a few weeks ago. Check out her blog HeRe. I've said it before and I will say it again, amazing.

Anywho, my plan was to just copy her step by step process. Then I realized, it was more work than it looked! She makes it look so easy :) I don't have a saw. I didn't feel like buying molding (although it looks AWESOME). I couldn't find a comparable white gauze fabric for the life of me. The JoAnn's people are overworked and rude and didn't want to answer any of my 'pestering' questions. And truth be told, after I covered three little jars with white fabric I wanted to shoot myself. Then I realized my big jars were curvy, making them impossible to neatly cover and I wanted to POOF it all away. Plus, I only had 6 Goodwill jars. Boooody hooooo.

DANG you decor problems! So like always, I took a few deep breaths, said a little 'goosfraba' and reformulated.

I just used the flimsy $5.00 mirror from Target. Then I decided to cover all the straight jars and leave the fat curvy ones open. I took away one jar, because 5 looked better than 6. I gathered up all the fall notions I had and just went to work. I didn't know where my project was headed, but sometimes it is better to jump right in. Bibbity Bobbity Boo!

As you can see, it is quite festive and frilly. I don't know how Craig feels about frills, but he said my revamped apple and leaf wreath looks like a bat, so I will let him use his imagination!

I like that it feels more proportional to the table. It might get a few more small jars, but for now my eye twitching can rest.

I bought flameless candles to put inside the covered jars for that lovely glow Thrifty Decor Chick had. While real candles smell good, I'm a bit crazy about open flame next to fabric. I do realize the flame would have to jump the glass jar...but somehow that doesn't make me feel better! Safety first people. While I am warning you, unplug your Christmas lights and turn off your dryer when you leave the house. Just do it. No one wants their house to burn down right before the holidays :)

They even flicker a bit. How fancy.

What happened to the orphaned 6th jar you ask? It found a home by the pumpkins. And the original centerpiece found a home on our pub table. That's right, for some reason we have two tables. Spicy.

I hope you are all enjoying this awesome time of year. If you get too cold, swing by the AZ!
