A long time ago....in a far away land...

...I started this terrible project! hehe, okay it wasn't THAT bad, but I am SO over it. When I am way over a project, I procrastinate until it drives me crazy that it isn't done yet. Make sense? I didn't think so :)

Around Thanksgiving I had this hair brained idea of making my own blocks that had some saying. Since I was bubbling over with Christmas spirit, I decided on "Merry Christmas." Easy enough, eh? Here, I even made a plan for myself:

Then I whipped out this saw thingy for the first time. I will say that I was afraid for my fingers. And that garden hose! Sometimes you just have to pick up a tool and roll with it...think about your limbs later!

Here they are...all ready for a little sanding. I used a $2 piece of wood from Home Depot, so there were a few blemishes. I pretty much ignored them!

My thought was to do them in a whimisical colorful theme. Pink, turquoise, etc. Then paint dried and they ended up looking like childrens blocks. The pink turned red, the green turned GRASS green, ECK! I HATED THEM!!!

Reformulate, reformulate, reformulate. I was not about to paint those blocks again. I decided to paint the edges gold and wrap each block in scrapbook paper. They were all like little presents!

Next, I modge podged the paper to the blocks. I loooove Modge Podge. Modge Modge PodgePodgePodge! Sing it with me! Modge Modge PodgePodgePodge!!!

I sang that made up little jingle about 5,000 times in my head while modge podgeing. I feel I should be compensated for my creative efforts!

After this, the blocks got put away in my cupboard for 1 month. I had a little creative trouble. I wanted to do vinyl lettering, but then Craig came home with a stencil. Turns out the stencil wasn't quite right and by that time, I was WAYYY over the river and through the woods. Done done done. Then one day I decided to stop my whining and I freehanded the lettering.

I stuck those babies on the blocks and TADA! I'll put some garland and frills around them tomorrow when my eyes can stay open, but you get the idea!

The table made it hard to get a good pic!! Two days before Christmas and they are up along the nook thingy. Nothing like a little procrastination!

Seriously- I love your posts! You completely crack me up. I think that we are sisters in procrastination. I have SOO many boxes and bins full of unfinished projects. *sigh* Someday I'll get around to them. Or not.
