HAPPYYY SATURDAY! My favorite day of the week is almost over, but I am happy to report that it was a productive one!!
My Mom came over super early to help get my singing room curtains sewn. I tell you, these are the easiest curtains to make, but somehow it took us 7 hours from cut to hang...funny how that is huh? I think we might have been having too much fun! Fun includes "Music and Lyrics," "Miss Congeniality" and "Raising Helen." Chick Flick morning! ooo and stopping for Subway. HOLLA!
Here's how we did them:
Lay out your fabric and cut it to size. I did two panels...here is the fabric folded in half so I would cut even panels.
Next, lay the lining (I used white cotton) and the fabric together and trim it to make sure they are even.
Pin all the sides together. I tried to skip this step because I'm lazy. Probably not my best idea! Save yourself some time and pin!
As you can see, you pin the right side down to the lining. This is because you do the ol' pillow case fliparoo later on.
Sew all four sides (straight, unless your name is Blair. Then crooked). Make sure on one of the short sides you leave a hole about 6 inches or so.
Then you make sure Turbo isn't eating any pins you accidentally dropped. Good, he's still in sleeping position.
Next, you take that 6 inch hole and fliparoo those curtains right side out!
You'll have to hand sew that hole. My mom did that part. Yay mom! After that, she pinned them flat and sewed them around the edges again. You don't HAVE to do this part, but it keeps them from losing form if you wash them or whatever. Heck, you don't have to do any of the steps but then they aren't 7 hour curtains!
Here's an example of the outer stitch. I think it makes them look cute!
Next, iron those suckers flat and get ready to hang! I love these straight line thingymabobbers. You just shoot the laser across the top of the window and make your pencil marks.
Find that drill that your husband is always hiding...
Hang up the rod and put little clippy hooks on it.
Clippy the first panel...
Then the second panel...
And enjoy!
Turbo is already a big fan...
Here's how it looked right after I painted the room a few weeks ago:
And today!
I am one step closer and it feels good! Thanks mom!
What's the next singing room adventure? This nasty Goodwill chair. Well, the next three projects seem to have made their way into this picture...
La! La! La!

Looks awesome and I love the fabric!
oh wow!! I think I could make curtains now... if only I had a sewing machine ;) Maybe I could borrow my neighbor's machine. We have two windows upstairs that are in desperate need of curtians. Ok, we have four. I better get to work :) The room looks amazing!!
Oh la la! I love the material that you used for the curtains... and I also have a tendency of making 30 minute projects into an entire weekend project. It's a talent.
I LOVE the curtains...and your choice in movies! Raising Helen is one of my favorites!
Super duper cute!!! You did a great job :)
It's so fun AND fabulous! Love the fabric!
