Hi friends!! If you've been reading the blogaroo you know that I was VERY excited about my giant mirror project. I got this enormous picture from my nice neighbor. Little did he know I was making an evil plan to dissect it for its frame!
My original plan was to fill it in with beveled mirrors. I soon realized no mirror tiles on earth would fit without needing to be cut. The frame was made in Canada so the measurements aren't on par with American mirror tiles. Make sense? I wasn't about to 1. cut them or 2. buy a mirror sheet (too expensive!). In case you can't tell, the frame is about 4 ft by 3 ft. That's a lot of mirror!
So Craig came up with this idea when we were at Ikea to use the framed mirrors and put pink behind it. I loved the idea! We bought the mirrors and this deliciously funky silk fabric.
I spent forever painting the frame and each little mirror. I thought it was going to be so super cute!
Then, the explosion. GRRR!!!! I was laying it all together and the glass (which held EVERYTHING together) shattered and cut me! That little turd!
I screamed...loudly...
(at least loud enough for Craig to stop playing video games and scramble for bandaids).
I tried some alternative ways to attach the mirrors, but they all looked super ghetto. Craig was a big help, but nothing seemed to work, you know? I pouted for a while and then decided I had just made the world's largest and most fabulous cork board picture frame! (that works, right?) Hang it baby!
I will order some pictures from Shutterfly. I knew I wanted oversized pics of Craig and me (and Turbo!)in the room, and I didn't know where I was going to put them.
Now I know! I just need a few embellishments and I think my disaster project might have turned out after all :)
It is true that you NEVER know what you are getting into when you start a DIY project. Here's my next one. A little spot for my singing feet.
I sure hope this one doesn't explode...Have a great weekend!

My lordy, hun! That coulda really hurt ya! Who would think that being crafty could be so DANGEROUS?! Can't wait to see the SAFE end results!
I've always known crafts were dangerous, that's why I don't do them ;)
I'm glad it worked out in the end.
oh wow... the mirror would have looked amazing, but I love the idea of more pictures. I need to put some pitures up of Edward and the family... I just don't know what or where to start...
