I know! It seems impossible that I have actually finished one of the billion projects I have started! I really want to get the music room done, STAT!
Here's another stinky Goodwill chair. I love these types of chairs because they are so easy to do! No major upholstery jobs here, hallelujah! I bought it on 50% off day a while back, and I think I paid $4.00 or something.
The cushion was peach stained velvet and it was stank-kay. First item of business was to detach the seat! (Yes, that is a flattering pose Julia).
The paint was some sort of really thick veneer, so I used my new BFF to smooth it down and then I spray painted it black.
Oh sander, I love you!! While the paint was drying, I attacked the seat. Here are the tools of the seat dissecting trade. I also used scissors because it was quite stubborn!
One the nastiness was removed, I traced the cushion on foam. I found the best foam place ever! I think I used like $2.00 worth of foam here. SOO cheap for foam!
I attached the foam to the seat using that natual bamboo batting stuff. I don't know what it is called. But it works! Then I stapled my pink fabric to it. I made the mistake of covering up the nail holes to screw it back in. DER! So I ripped it off and stapled the pink fabric again...
The corners are always tricky. I try new methods all the time. This fabric was super thick and not very nice to me, so I did the ol' corneroo.
Staple staple staple. Scream when the staples come out. Staple. Staple. Flip!
Yay! A cushion! I had to contemplate whether or not I would cover the rattan back with more pink. I decided that even though I am in love with pink, it would be WAY too much pink. And like I said before, the fabric was probably too thick for this job. So I decided to put the nail heads around the seat cushion instead.
I bought the individual nail heads because I wanted silver, so I used my trusty mallet (also known as mallard in the Skousen home. Quack quack) to tap them in. I hit my fingers 500,000 times, FYI. It's much harder to get straight, but I think once you figure out a pattern they are way better than the trim you can buy. Anyways, after that I screwed the seat back in.
And it's done! See, I told you it was easy :)
It fits in nicely with it's new curtain friends in the music room! And I am happy to have a cute seat to rest my boo-tay.
A little before and after for you. I wish we all had smellivision, because then you'd be REALLY happy! :) On to the next project!

The pink is really fun and I love the addition of the nailhead trim. It will be fun to see it in the finished room!
The chair turned out great. The pink is so unexpected, but looks great with the nailhead trim.
The pink and black is so great together!
I LOVE IT!! It looks so great!
I LOVE it!
That turned out super! I love the colors. I've often seen chairs like this but wonder how easy they were to paint. I'll have to keep my eyes open a little wider now!
That's very cute. Love the pink!
Oh yes, very pretty now! I love the pink with the black!
Love it!!! What a difference! I'll be keeping my eyes open for chairs like that from now on. Although, I better finish one of my bazillion projects before I start another :). My husband said I need to quit buying furniture from the thrift store until I finish some of the stuff that's taking up room in the garage. Haha!
I love the chair! So adorable!
Great job! I've been on the look out for those chairs. I want 6. Too much to ask, ya know? lol You did a fantastic job! It's gorgeous in black and pink and I have the trim!
